Bill & Missi Bellottie - Detroit Bully Crew Founders
Please welcome Detroit Bully Crew as the newest member of the EA Schensky family! As an animal-loving, rescue-supporting office, we give animal rescues a 30% discount on tax and accounting services. Many of these groups do so much work on a shoe-string budget. We want to help them thrive as small businesses because their work is invaluable to our communities and our four (and three!) legged friends.
Here is more about their rescue from Bill Bellottie:
Bill and Sabre. Sabre is currently awaiting his furever home.
“The foundation of our program is “Education”. Without education on spay/neuter, breed specific legislation ( BSL ), training, breed specific workshops, the dog fighting culture & responsible ownership… the canine epidemic will never end. Rescue is a mere bandage in the overall scale of the canine epidemic. Shelters are over-run, rescues are overflowing & society is in need of education. For every 1 spot we fill, we turn away 50 canines. We average 15-20 rescue canines at any given time. Also take into consideration we deal primarily with 1 breed, The American Pit Bull Terrier. The American Pit Bull Terrier comprises 90% of our rescue population. We work with canines from any & every background, whether it be a surrendered family pet, bait dogs, seasoned fighters & the abused. We are NOT a no-kill rescue/rehabilitation. We as a moral, ethical & objective organization will NOT adopt out a canine that is a threat to society. We are advocates of the American Pit Bull Terrier, as such we will not add to the epidemic by being irresponsible.
In 2011, we lost our land in Texas, which meant we lost our rescue Gulf Coast Bully Breed Rehabilitation. After 6 weeks of placing dogs and moving ourselves to Detroit we were approached with an option. We were given the chance to become a chapter in the “Bully Crew” family. Adopting an animal is like adopting a new piece of self, it keeps our human lives grounded. Canines teach us about the simplicities of life & love. They don’t know hate, or contempt. They know love, food and continuity. Laugh more, share more…..adopt more.”
Here is just one of many URGENT cases they have taken in. They took in this dog, Savannah, that was hit by a car in Detroit on 2/5/2012 and now needs extensive surgery. Donations can also be made directly to Dr. Wilson’s out in Romeo by calling (586) 752-6217 and referencing Detroit Bully Crew and “Savannah”. Please note that they are not yet a 501(c)(3) organization where donations are tax-deductible. Though, we happily gave up the money set aside for our lunch this week to make a donation for Savannah. It is not always about the tax deduction…in this case, it is about helping to save a life.
